How to prepare Dough
To prepare dough, canola oil, milk and ½ cup (120mL) of sugar should be mixed in a large saucepan. You have to heat it up until it’s very hot but ensure you don’t heat to the point of boiling. Next; you have to turn off the heat and leave it warm. This means, you don’t leave it to be too hot or cold after turning off.
Next; you have to add 4 cups (950mL) of flour after smearing in the yeast, then mix up by stirring, put lid on the pot and leave it to rise for about an hour. After an hour, make an additional ½ cup (120mL) of flour and stir together with salt, baking powder and baking soda. Take note; if you notice that dough has become too sticky, add another ½ cup (120mL) of flour and stir again.
Next; you have to keep the dough in the fridge for an hour at least. This is to ensure that the dough becomes easier to work with.
Next; you have to roll out the dough on a floured surface, then spray on melted butter and sprinkle to ensure it covers all the dough properly. Stir the cinnamon with sugar and spray it all over the surface of the dough. After this step, you cut the dough into 6 to 8 strips, pile all the strips into a single stack, make 6 slices out of the single stack, place the stacks broadsides into a buttered bread pan. Please, don’t jam-pack the slices into the pan. You can have leftover.
Next; you have to cover it with a dish towel and leave it to rise for about 20 minutes before placing the pan into an oven. Before placing the pan, ensure you preheat the oven to 350 degree. After placing the pan into the oven, bake for 30 minutes. Check to ensure it’s not getting too brown on top after 20 minutes gone. It is recommended you bake the bread long enough to ensure that the middle does not get too doughy. If it is too doughy, it won’t be easy to pull apart. If you discover the top is getting too brown, cover it lightly with aluminum foil for the remaining time of the baking. IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT YOU BAKE FOR TOO LONG ENOUGH TO PREVENT THE MIDDLE FROM GETTING TOO DOUGHY. When it is done, remove the pan from the oven. Take the bread out of the pan by running a knife along the edges. Mix-up the icing ingredients and sprinkle on the top, leave it to descend into the crevices, then serve it warm or under the room temperature.
